A historic place that keeps up with the times.
The ‘Libava’ hotel is located in a building with more than 250 years of history – its origins date back to 1772, when it housed a bridge guard and customs services. Over the years, the building has witnessed various eras – from a bridge guard’s house to the legendary sailors’ tavern ‘Pie melnās bumbas’ (‘At the Black Ball’), from a soup kitchen during the economic crisis to the Innovators’ Club in the Soviet period. After the restoration of independence, the building stood abandoned for a long time until 2003, when it came into the ownership of SIA ‘SB’, which restored it with great care and respect for history. In 2005, the building was reborn, regaining its historic name ‘Libava’ and transforming into a hotel where the charm of the past intertwines with modern comfort.
