Keep those tiny fingers protected

Finger protection for children

Our hands and fingers are a marvel an incredibly functional and sensitive tool. As far as sensitivity goes, the hands of small, curious children are in their own league.

Small children are rarely aware of dangers in their environment and cannot recognise or suspect potential risks. When they play, injuries happen fairly often, especially when the play takes place near or involves doors. Most accidents occur in spaces where children spend the majority of their time: at school, nursery, and home. There are several ways in which children can end up trapping their fingers in doors.

Potential risks for trapping fingers in doors

There are various products available to protect fingers and prevent such incidents. We have compiled a collection of certified products that comply with the standards for child protection products EN 16654 and EN 16005.

  • noiseless door closing
  • the door remains closed without a lock
  • prevents the door from slamming due to draughts

Finger protection on the hinge side

ATHMER range also includes a solution for finger protection on the hinge side: a roller-type protector that is installed on the door closing face. It covers the gap between the door leaf and the door frame, and maintains a constant tension for safety. As the gap is covered, kids' fingers cannot get trapped there.

Another product from ATHMER for finger protection on the hinge side is a finger protection profile. It is installed between hinges on the door closing face, and little fingers are safe as it also covers the gap between the door leaf and the frame. The profiles come in various forms, and a suitable solution can be found for any type of door.
